In layman language, the title means the official attire to wear during office working hours.
But then the word official and working hours can be quite deceiving.
Most people define official attire as appropriate clothings to wear at work. Something not too revealing, official looking and presentable. The sytle varies. From traditional to modern, chic styles, casual smart and some with a touch of elegance.
However there are people who limit the definition to ceremonial clothings. To these people, official attires are baju kurungs, kebayas, cheongsams, sarees and the punjabi suits...the traditional clothes of the races in Malaysia.
All public service (civil service) people were informed that every thursday is formal 'baju batik' day.

TUJUAN
1. Surat Pekeliling Perkhidmatan ini bertujuan menyampaikan keputusan Kerajaan mengenai kewajipan memakai pakaian batik oleh pegawai awam pada setiap hari Khamis.
LATAR BELAKANG
2. Dalam usaha menyokong perkembangan dan pembangunan industri batik negara yang merupakan warisan dan identiti negara, Kerajaan telah memutuskan supaya pakaian batik Malaysia dipakai oleh pegawai awam pada hari pertama dan hari ke-15 setiap bulan melalui Surat Edaran JPA(S)TT. 193/37 Jld.4 (86) bertarikh 30 Jun 2005. Nothing is ever a sure bet to be a #1 hit, but it seems like Mariah Carey's new single "Bye Bye," the second from upcoming album E=MC2, is about as close as it gets. Co-produced by Stargate and co-written by Johnta Austin, one of the writers behind the mega-smash "We Belong Together," the song has a universal lyrical appeal and the instant feel of a Mariah Carey classic.
Mariah states the topic of the song upfront singing "This is for my peoples who just lost somebody." Loosely based around Mariah Carey's loss of her own father, "Bye Bye" has a universal appeal that may even bring some listeners to tears. Mariah is expected to perform the song Monday, April 14th on Oprah and again Wednesday, April 16th on American Idol.
